The Nominations Deadline for the 2010 Awards is 1 July 2009 (see below for details)
The AIBS Awards Committee welcomes nominations from AIBS members for the next annual cycle of the AIBS Distinguished Scientist Award, the AIBS Education Award, and the AIBS Outstanding Service Award. Awards are presented each May. Letters of nomination may be sent by regular mail or by e-mail before the stated deadline. Nominations should indicate why the nominee is deserving of the award and should be accompanied by the nominee's curriculum vitae and brief biographical sketch. The selection process is three fold: (1) screened and forwarded by the Awards Committee; (2) checked with AIBS President and Executive staff, (3) voted on by the AIBS Board of Directors.

Distinguished Scientist Award (third-party nominations accepted)
Presented annually to individuals who have made significant scientific contributions to the biological sciences
Education Award (third-party nominations accepted)
Presented annually to individuals or groups who have made significant contributions to education in the biological sciences, at any level of formal and informal education
Outstanding Service Award (third-party nominations accepted)
Presented annually in recognition of individuals' and organizations' noteworthy service to the biological sciences
President's Citation Award
Recognizes meritorious accomplishments by individuals or groups in the biological sciences. Internally adjudicated by AIBS; not open to outside nominations.
Media Award
Recognizes outstanding reporting on biology to a general audience
Emerging Public Policy Leader Award
Recognizes graduate students in the biological sciences or science education that demonstrate a potential to become science policy or science education policy leaders
Diversity Leadership Award
Recognizes programs that promote best practices and disseminate successful strategies to broaden participation of women, persons with disabilities, and underrepresented minorities in the biological sciences.
Diversity Scholars Program
Recognizes outstanding students from underrepresented minorities in the biological sciences, provides travel support to present at scientific meetings and membership in AIBS.
Student Poster Competition
At each annual meeting, AIBS hosts a competition and awards for the best research posters presented by undergraduate and graduate students.
