11 May 2006. The AIBS Board of Directors and the AIBS Awards Committee are pleased to announce the 2006 recipients of AIBS's highest awards, to be presented May 23rd, in Washington DC, at the annual meeting of the AIBS Council of Member Societies and Organizations (full program).

Distinguished Scientist Award

Presented annually to individuals who have made significant scientific contributions to the biological sciences

2006 award to Louis J. Gross, University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Education Award

Presented annually to individuals or groups who have made significant contributions to education in the biological sciences, at any level of formal and informal education
