Join us for the 2012 Evolution Symposium at NABT

August 14, 2012

Attending the 2012 NABT Conference in Dallas? Don't miss this year's NABT Evolution Symposium, which is organized and sponsored by AIBS, BEACON and NESCent. This year's symposium will highlight the impact of two transformational thinkers in evolutionary biology who died in 2011: Lynn Margulis and Jim Crow.

The symposium, entitled Evolutionary Transformations: The Legacies of Two Influential Scientists on Evolutionary Thought will begin with an overview and historical perspective of major transitions in evolutionary biology. This will be followed by talks from two scientists who are protégés of Margulis and Crow and can speak to the impact of their mentors' work. The symposium will close with a talk on the future of evolutionary biology and the roles of Margulis' and Crow's work in helping shape that future.

The symposium will be held from 1:00pm - 5pm on Friday, November 2nd.

As always, the evolution symposium will be followed the next day (Saturday, November. 3rd from 10:00am - 12:45 pm) by a hands-on workshop for teachers. Join AIBS, BEACON and NESCent to receive teaching materials and learn about strategies to teach about the evolution of evolutionary thought in your classroom.
