The American Institute of Biological Sciences thanks you for your support in successfully striking down the Weiner amendment to the Science, State, Justice, and Commerce appropriations bill for FY 2006. The amendment would have removed much-needed funds from the National Science Foundation budget.

As you know, national investment in basic research is crucial to maintaining American growth and prosperity. History has proven that scientific innovation fuels the economy; without it, we risk losing ground to a growing number of global competitors.
