On Friday, 25 October 2013, AIBS Director of Public Policy Dr. Robert Gropp was one of three panelists discussing the interactions of science and public policy with congressional fellows sponsored by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institutes (CHCI). Approximately two-dozen graduate students and recent graduates participated in the program that was part of the orientation program for the policy fellows who are working in various congressional offices. Samantha M. Slater, Vice President for Government Affairs with the Renewable Fuels Association and Tracy Kolian, Deputy Director of the Center for Public Health Policy at the American Public Health Association also participated on the panel. The discussion was organized and moderated by Dr. Wesley Brooks, a 2011 AIBS Emerging Public Policy Leader Award recipient and a current CHCI fellow working in the office of Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL, 27th).
