Media Advisory: AIBS to Cosponsor Dec. 21 Teleconference on Dover Verdict
Attention: Journalists covering Kitzmiller v. Dover
The American Institute of Biological Sciences and The Interfaith Alliance are cosponsoring a teleconference tomorrow that will bring together leading scientific and religious experts to discuss the verdict in the Kitzmiller v. Dover case.
Speakers will include: The Reverend Dr. Joan Brown Campbell, formerly head of the National Council of Churches and an ordained minister in two Christian denominations; Dr. Kenneth Miller, a devout Catholic and Professor of Biology at Brown University, who wrote the biology textbook used in Dover, Pa., and is the author of Finding Darwin's God; Dr. Francisco J. Ayala, Professor of Biological Sciences at University of California Irvine and an expert on evolutionary genetics; Dr. Jonathan King, Professor of Molecular Biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an expert on the public health impact of biomedical research; and The Reverend J. Brent Walker, executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty and an expert on constitutional law.
Dr. Joel Cracraft, 2004 AIBS president, will represent AIBS. Cracraft is the Lamont Curator of Birds and Curator-in-Charge of the Department of Ornithology, American Museum of Natural History. He served as an advisor to the American Civil Liberties Union at the Arkansas creation trial in 1981.
