AIBS has joined a group of 110 publishers, scientific societies, associations, and research-related organizations in expressing a commitment to advancing scientific communication through high-quality publications and responsible and sustainable public access.
“To maximize the impact of federally funded research, it is critical to promote open science through a flexible and sustainable framework that supports and upholds the value of scientific and scholarly communication,” the groups note. The letter argues that any policy aimed at promoting public access to publications and research data should promote equity, provide sufficient funding, protect academic freedom, protect intellectual property, support innovation, leverage existing initiatives, and include publishers as stakeholders.
