One of the problems may be that most students receive career advice from their faculty advisor, who is more likely to recommend a career in academia than employment in another sector. - The federal government has released a ten-year strategic plan for climate change research. Federal climate research will be expanded from the current focus of documenting environmental changes and developing models of Earth's climate system to include the complex dynamics of ecosystems and human social-economic activities.
