AIBS staff taught four workshops and launched a new online writing course in June 2017. All of the programs were aimed at improving the communication skills of students and researchers.
Thirty graduate students, post-docs, and faculty participated in a two-day science communications boot camp at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

At the Botany meeting held in Fort Worth, Texas and the Evolution meeting in Portland, Oregon, conference attendees had the opportunity to improve their skills at communicating with the media and policymakers.
AIBS also trained 50 undergraduate students participating in Research Experiences for Undergraduates programs in the Washington, DC area.
AIBS also launched an online course on "Writing for Influence and Impact." Participants will attend six virtual lessons and received personal feedback from the instructor.
