Now online: AIBS/ESA/BSA survey on BIO2010 education report
At its March 2004 meeting, the AIBS Education Committee discussed drafting a commentary to the National Research Council's 2003 report, "BIO2010: Transforming Undergraduate Education for Future Research Biologists." It was clear that AIBS needed to work with the NRC and bring together a group of people to determine what kind of commentary, perhaps including a complementary report, might be best. AIBS is now working with two of its member societies--the Ecological Society of America and the Botanical Society of America--on a survey to collect data from the biological community on the influence to date of the BIO2010 Report.
Take the Bio2010 survey. It will run through to at least the end of October 2004. Anyone involved in undergraduate biology education is encouraged to respond to the survey and provide feedback. All responses will be held in confidence. The results of the survey will help in the development of recommendations to ensure that the curriculum needs of biology majors, as well as those of the general education biology student, are met. Questions about the survey may be directed to the AIBS Education and Outreach Manager, Susan Musante, at .
